Funky Folds Blog Hop #3

Hello stamping friends. Welcome to Funky Folds Blog Hop #3.

We are a community for like minded paper crafters who love to make cards with funky/fancy/fun folds and to share our ideas. Funky actually means “modern and stylish in an unconventional or striking way”. We are featuring cards that are not your usual rectangle/square portrait of landscape style cards.

Each and every month the blog hops will have and 'anything goes' theme as long as your card has some type of 'funky' fold.

I've made for you today a Star Explosion Pop-Up card using products from the beautiful Stampin' Up! Country Woods Suite found in the new 2024 - 2025 Annual Catalogue. I've used the tutorial and measurements from Sam Calcott at Mixed Up Craft.

When the card is closed it looks fairly inconspicuous but when you take off the belly band and open the card up that is where the magic happens. Here on the front I've layered Basic White, Pool Party and the Country Woods DSP for the front of the card and then I've used Misty Moonlight for the belly band and added DSP, Ribbon, stamped images and die-cuts using products from the Country Woods Suite.

On the inside is a scored centre panel that all folds in neatly together when the card is folded closed. When opened the centre circle piece pops up and stands up a little off the card for that added element and dimension.  As well as using the Country Woods DSP I've also adde some of the Country Lace DSP to layer on some of the panels and used more of the products from the Country Woods suite to embellish the inside.

I coloured the floral images in using Stampin' Blends Alcohol Markers and used the same floral images on the front as what is on the inside to keep that continuity from the outside to the inside.

Stampin' Blends Used
Flowers - Light Peach Pie, Light & Dark Petal Pink, Light Summer Splash, Light & Dark Pool Party, Light and Dark Boho Blue, Light Balmy Blue, Light Lemon Lolly
Leaves - Light & Dark Mossy Meadow
Teapot - Light and Dark Gray Granite

I've even added some Basic White Panels on the back for you to write your message. This is such a WOW card when you open it. It's one of those cards that you hand deliver to your best crafting friend just so that you can see their reaction to when they open it.

I do hope you like my Funky Fold that I've shared with you today. I just love how it turned out especially with the use of the Country Woods Suite products. This is another amazing suite that I've fallen in love with.

Next up is Bronwyn Eastley from Tasmania, Australia with her Funky Fold. I can't wait to see what she has made for us.

If you love to make cards with creative folds and would like to join in with our monthly Funky Folds Blog Hop, you are welcome to head on over to our community group on Facebook HERE to be part of the fun.

CASE-ing the Catty | #CTC468 | CASE the 2024 - 2025 Annual Catalogue

Hello there stamping friends! Welcome and thanks for joining me on my blog today. I'm so excited to be able to tell you all that you are looking at one of the four newest members of the CASE-ing the Catty Crew. I'm so honoured and very thankful to be asked to be a part of this fabulous group of crafters and I'm so looking forward to sharing all my creations with you and to inspire you to join in with the weekly challenges.

To CASE is to Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit and we love to CASE from our amazing Stampin' Up! catalogues.

This week we are CASE-ing any project from the all new 2024 - 2025 Annual Catalogue. I was inspired by and CASE-d a card on pg. 18 of the catalogue.

The Pool Party card with the Pretty in Pink rectangle label and the Bubble Bath cake caught my eye. While the design of the card is quite simple I gave my CASE-d version a little bit more and put a 'Rochelle' spin on it.

I've used some of the products from the new and beautiful Unbounded Beauty Suite. This suite is amazing and really highlights the new 2024 - 2026 In Colours. Which I love a lot! I've kept to the same design as the original card with the label at the top and then the arrangement of a cluster of items over the label.

I've started my card with Summer Splash base layers and then a piece of the Unbounded Beauty DSP in the same colour. Over that then I've layered a piece of Basic White with some Basic White little flowers from the Flowers of Beauty dies and some splatters of Summer Splash ink.

The label has been die-cut with Basic White Cardstock and then leaving the Basic White piece in the die I've added some ink to the label using a Blending Brush. By leaving the cardstock in the die when you add some ink this then creates a border around your die cut piece. To make it look like an extra long label I cut it in half and then spaced it out underneath the flowers and leaves to give the illusion of length.

The images are all stamped from the Flowers of Beauty Stamp set and then arranged in a cluster with some 2024 - 2026 Glimmer Paper die cuts, some Pretty in Pink Ribbon, Unbounded Love die cuts and the Happy Birthday Sentiment from the Unbounded Love Stamp Set, some Black & Very Vanilla Large Check Ribbon, and some Pretty In Pink In Color Shimmer Gems.

There are lots of AMAZING creations from the rest of the CASE-ing the Catty Crew so be sure to make your way around the whole hop to get inspiration from the CTC team.

Next up on the hop is Kathryn Mangelsdorf with her 2024 - 2025 Annual Catalogue creation. Keep hopping around to see all of the design team’s creations.

We would love to have you join us over at our Facebook group to share your creation CASE-ing a project from the 2024 - 2025 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue and join in this weeks challenge. You don't need to have a blog to join in!

Just Add Ink #700 | Just Add Shimmer or Shine

Hello there stamping friends! Happy Friday! Welcome and thanks for joining me on my blog today. Today we over at Just Add Ink we have a shiny challenge for you today with - Just  Add Ink #700 | Just Add Shimmer or Shine, suggested this week by me!

I do like most things sparkly and shiny so this challenge is so fitting. Most of my cards have some sort of shiny or shimmery element, whether it be pearls, rhinestones, gold embossing, sequins, metallic paper. Today for my card I've used the new Stampin' Up! 2024 - 2026 In Color Glimmer Paper to create a shimmery, striped background.

I've used all of the 5 In Colors for the background. I just love how all 5 of the colours go so well together. They look fabulous here in my striped background. I cut the Glimmer Paper at 1/2cm and the Basic White at 1cm and then adhered them on so me Basic White cardstock.

Look how sparkly the glimmer paper is! It really is stunning!

I've combined my striped background with a circle from the Stylish Shapes dies and the used gold embossing powder to heat emboss the large image from the Layers of Beauty stamp set on the now retired Vellum (sad). The Happy Birthday is from the Coutry Birdhouse stamp set and then I've finished the card off with a ruffle using some Summer Splash Bordered Ribbon, a piece of Linen Thread, and some In Color Shimmer Gems.

It is quite a simple card but with the shimmery elements of the Glimmer Paper you don't need much else on the card so the glimmer paper can 'shine'.

Go and check out the JAI design teams shimmery creations at the Just Add Ink Blog and then come and join in this week's shiny fun! I can't wait to see what you create.

Just Add Ink #698 | Just Choose Two Challenge

I'm here today to bring you my card for the NEW challenge we have over at Just Add Ink Challenges - Just Add Ink #698 - Just Choose Two Challenge.

Today for our Just Choose Two challenge (to choose two items to feature on your project) we are choosing from Leaves, Flowers and Pots. I chose leaves and flowers for my 'Just Choose Two' but that was pretty much a given as I'm a sucker for a pretty flower stamp set and card.

I've used lots of layers, embossing, die cutting, ribbon & trim, and the Stampin' Up! Online Exclusive bundle Simply Zinnia for a pretty floral card using Stampin' Blends Alcohol Markers. I've not used my Stampin' Blends for a while now so it was good to get them out and get my colouring on.

I've used Basic White and one of the new In Colors - Pretty in Pink, for my cardstock layers and then to colour in the Zinnia flowers I used the Blends - Melon Mambo Dark & Light, Pretty in Pink Dark, Pumpkin Pie Light, and Lemon Lolly Dark to colour in the flowers. I used Granny Apple Green Dark & Light to colour the leaves. I'm loving this pink on pink colour combo. I love the gorgeous contrast between the dark and light pink shades. Super pretty!

I finished the card off with a layering of ribbon and trim and added a few Irridescent Pearls to add to that pretty look.

There are lots of AMAZING creations from the rest of the Just Add Ink Design Team on the JAI Blog. Go and check out to see what 'two' elements they all used this week and then while you are there you can see how you can enter your project. Can't wait to see what 'two' you used.

Funky Folds Blog Hop #2

Hello stamping friends. Welcome to the Funky Folds Blog Hop.

We are a new group of like-minded paper crafters who love to make cards with funky folds (fun folds). Funky actually means "modern and stylish in and unconventional or striking way"... so we are featuring cards that are not you usual rectangle/square portait or landscape style. Think 'easel', 'pop-up', 'gatefold', 'z-fold', 'shaped' or '3D' cards. The list is endless.

All Funky Folds Blog Hops have an 'anything goes' theme using any type of  'funky' card fold. Here today I've made a Pop Up Box Card featuring products from the new Stampin' Up! Unbounded Beauty Suite, that will be coming out in the new 2024 - 2025 Stampin' Up! Catalogue that customers can purchase from on 1st May, 2024.

This is a fantastic card to use up all that DSP that we all have in our stashes. Here I've used the Unbounded Beauty 12" x 12" DSP. This DSP has all the bright and beautiful new In Colors and is so stunning! You start with an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of DSP and once you make all the score lines and folds you have a box that you can fold flat (perfect for posting).

Once the belly band is taken off, gently pull the flaps to either side and the box opens up. You are able to add a piece of cardstock inside the box for you to be able to write your message. You could probably fit a gift card of some sort in there too. Or if you want you can also decorate the inside and have your message panel on the back of the box.

Here I've got the message piece embellished with the same DSP as the outside of the box for a coordinated look. I've left it loose to take out but you could adehere the message panel in with adhesive if you prefered.

When the box is unfolded this is how big it is when it is opened up, and then it folds completely flat when all folded up.

The belly band is made with Summer Splash cardstock and Summer Splash Ribbon. I've die cut a circle using the Stylish Shapes dies and added some ink blending on it using the new Pretty In Pink Ink. The layered die cuts, stamped images and sentiment come from the Flowers in Beauty Bundle and the Unbounded Love Bundle, both from the Unbounded Beauty Suite. I can't love this suite enough! It is that stunning!

If you are wanting to make the Box card, check out the tutorial HERE.

Up next is Lou Kitzelman from Australia. I can't wait to see what she has made for our Funky Folds Blog Hop.

If you love to make cards with creative folds and would like to join in with our monthly Funky Folds Blog Hop, you are welcome to head on over to our community group on Facebook HERE to be part of the fun.

Just Add Ink #696 | Inspiration Picture Challenge

Hello there stamping friends! Happy Friday! Welcome and thanks for joining me on my blog today. Today we over at Just Add Ink have a fabulous inspiration picture challenge - Just Add Ink #696 | Inspiration Picture Challenge.

What a beautiful inspiration picture!!! Wouldn't a piece of that cake be delicious? While at a quick glance at the inspiration picture you would think that all you would get out of the picture is some cake inspiration but actually there's the colours, the fruit, the flowers. Lots to get you inspired.

The colours  and the flowers were what caught my eye and that is the focus of my card for today for the Just Add Ink Design Team.

I've used the Enduring Beauty stamp set for a bold birthday card. I've stamped the image on Water colour paper and coloured the image in using Water Painters. I know there are coordinating masks that go with this stamp set, and they do make colouring this image in so much quicker, but I wanted to try and colour it with the Water Painters for a different look.

I used Gorgeous Grape and Pretty Peacock for my colours. I don't normally use Pretty Peacock to colour leaves but the colour goes so well with Gorgeous Grape that I thought I should use it. Makes for a beautiful colour combination!

I used the Layered Florals 3D embossing folder to add to the floral look and then finished the card off with some Linen Thread, Black & Vanilla Large Check Ribbon and the Purple Fine Shimmer Gems. the embossed sentiment comes from one of the new stamp sets from the New 2024 - 2025 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, Unbounded Beauty.

Go and check out the design teams take on this week's Inspiration Picture at the Just Add Ink Blog and then come and join in this week's sketch fun! I can't wait to see what you create.

Just Add Ink #694 | Colour Challenge

Hello there stamping friends! I hope that you are having a fantastic week and a fabulous day! It's Friday, Yay, and that means it's time for another Just Add Ink Challenge - Just Add Ink #694 | Colour Challenge.

This week we have a fun colour combo for you using Fresh Freesia, Pretty Peacock and Cajun Craze. We just happen to be using my least favourite Stampin' Up! Colour - Cajun Craze. I know we've all got a colour that we strongly dislike, well mine is Cajun Craze. What is yours? I think I'm still on my first pack of Cajun Craze cardstock and I've been a Stampin' Up! demo for over 10 years!

I've made a Fun Fold card for you today that I saw on fellow JAI DT Member Di Barnes blog and also Linda Dalke's Instagram a long time ago and have been wating to make it for ages.

I'm not sure what this Fun Fold is actually called but I'm going to call it the Wing Fold as you'll see in my other photos why I've called it that.

I've used a Basic White base for the card and then layered Fresh Freesia cardstock and the DSP from the Perennial Lavender DSP. Over the DSP I flicked the Pretty Peacock Stampin' Write marker for some inky splatters and then using a Blending Brush added a little Pretty Peacock Ink around the DSP edges for a little layered depth. It's hard to see the blended ink edges here in the photo but I assure you I did do it.

I've decorated the front with some layered circles, using Vellum, Fresh Freesia and Basic White. Two of the circle die cuts come from the New Spotlight on Nature Bundle from the new 2024 - 2025 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue that SU demonstrators can pre order from on 2nd April 2024 and SU customers can purchase from 1st May 2024. It's an amazing catalogue with lots of amazing products! I love it!

I've then used products from the Perennial Lavender Suite to finish layering and embellishing my 'Wing' Fun Fold card.

Once the 'wings' unfold open then there is a panel inside where you can write your message, or if you want you can decorate this panel as well and then use the panel on the back to write your message.

Here on the inside I've used the same DSP and cardstock for some more layering and then added some stamping and some Baker's Twine.

I do hope that you like my take on this week's challenge colours. I actually liked the addition of Cajun Craze in this colour combo but you probably won't see me use it much more than this. It's still not my favourite. Ha!

Go and check out the design teams take on this week's colours at the Just Add Ink Blog for some inspiration and then come and join in this week's sketch fun! I can't wait to see what you create.
